New Toys: A New Look

Aly and Sydni,
I know the grey CC logo in the middle of the foam squares under the loft was a transcending idea on my part - which is understandable why you both want to take credit for it. I don't ask for public acknowledgement or anything else because I know you both go to sleep every night thinking Man, Chris was really genius with the mats. That is sufficient enough for me.
But the time has come. You know how I like to keep things professional in all facets of my life - especially the gym. The color pallet of Red and Blue and Green and Yellow and Grey just doesn't fit the sophisticated nature of my taste for this place. And I'm pretty sure those things were growing mold. And I tripped on the corner of that stupid green one that kept sticking up for no freaking reason for the 254th time. And I just so happened to bump into an option that was much more better than the foam squares.
...........
Rubber flooring has been on my mind since we first moved in. But when I got a quote from a dude Craigen knew, the price made me put it on the We'll Take Care Of It Later list along with the freyed roped and the roof. After a few years, I noticed the advantages of NOT having rubber flooring: no snags when moving equipment around, easier to clean, not worrying about raining in, and mainly $8,000 more in the Champions Club bank account.
But last Monday I got a call from a random demolition crew dude who had a ton of rubber flooring he was selling for peas and carrots (and a lengthy shoulder/hip mobility session). So after consulting with Jarrod and Jeremy (from CrossFit ReviveR), I snagged some flooring to replace the foam squares under the loft. Not gonna lie, I like how it looks.
Little did I know this demolition dude loaded about 30 more mats than I wanted because he just needed to get rid of them. It wasn't enough to cover the entire gym, and to be honest they're barely softer than the concrete we've been working out on. But we do host a lot of workouts in the parking lot, and rubber flooring is much more pleasant than pebbles and gravel. So with the help of Mrs. Pip, Shakes, and Kroll, we washed, disinfected, washed again, and slid the mats together to create a little 25x25 ft. workout square - making things like box jumps, jump ropes, and cleans much more managable outside.
I'm probably going to paint them any color besides black so they won't reach boiling temperature in the Summer months, but otherwise I'm gonna let this roll during the fall and see how it works out. Aside from a few random gusts of wind, double unders went well today.
