Poll: Jock Blocker = Gains Goblin?

Back in May some high school sophomore threw 157 pitches in 10 innings of a baseball game. His team had to win the game in order to make the state tournament and this pitcher's efforts helped them bring home the W. On the downside, KHSAA baseball rules state that a pitcher can only throw 9 innings in one day - which resulted in both the kid and his coach getting suspended for the team's next game (which they lost.)
In the aftermath, the coach got a ton of heat not only for breaking the rules, but for leaving his kid out to pitch that long. One of the Brand X coaches wrote about it in the following article.
Are You a Jock Blocker? Maybe You Should Be
Here is what we know about the situation:
- 157 pitches is a ton for any level.
- 10 innings is a ton for any level.
- The rules state that having a kid pitch 10 innings in a single day is illegal.
- Kid's velocity remained constant throughout the game.
- The coach repeatedly asked the kid if he wanted to come out, but the kid insisted on playing.
- The umpire told the coach it was not illegal to pitch a kid 10 innings.
So, what do you think? Is this a special occasion where this kind of effort is okay, or is this a lack of responsibility by the coach?
