In-Season Workout Chronicles: Josh Van and Lulu

On Monday Josh Van came into the 4:30 session extremely sore from his effort on Karen the previous day (and from him and his family's lack of cool-down afterwards). His plan was to just do mobility because he had baseball practice right after. Much like Mr. Gjon, he was "convinced" to go through the session with the group in hopes that he would loosen up. Josh did the warmup with push-ups, pistols, and running technique, as well as 1 hard round of the workout (20 pull-ups, 400m run), then did his mobility after. He reported having a good practice later that night and didn't feel sore at all, though once he got back home his legs resumed their residual soreness.

On Tuesday Lulu came in and did the max effort split jerks with the 3:30 session - though it was more of a "for quality" day than a true max effort day. We placed a lot of emphasis on sticking and holding the landing position for 5-10 seconds each reps, as well as switching feet. She topped out using 65 lbs. but did a lot of reps at 45 and 55 lbs. as well. Altogether she probably did 50 reps that day and spent about 3 minutes combined in split position. Later that night Lulu had soccer practice and felt fine at the start, but her started to ache towards the end. The next few days her knee continued to bother her, up until yesterday when she came in for the 3:30 session and got her hamstrings mashed.
