New Kids on the Block: The Cavataio Crew

On February 10 Mark Cavataio and his daughter, Lily, came in for a private session, through a recommendation of Mr. Gjon and Lulu. They've been in every day except two, shown a willingness to learn good technique, and are picking up on things very quickly. The group gave them the okay, I am on board with them, and now they're officially part of the Champions Club!
Mr. Mark is a grade school PE teacher in Troy and, despite not playing in high school, has a bigtime passion for the game of basketball. Before the lockdown, he played with Mr. Gjon in church leagues where they were rocking 80s shorts and probably hitting the open man and playing help defense, among other things against the unwritten rules of pickup basketball. He introduced himself to the Champions Club with a legless rope climb on the second day, and I have a feeling he might be able to do a pistol, so let the envy begin.
Lily actually has two connections to the Champions Club: not only is she friends with Lulu, but her soccer coach is none other than Mrs. Teri Steinwascher. When I found out about this, I asked Mrs Teri if she thought Lily would be a good fit and she immediately replied OH MY GOD YES, GET THE DAD IN TOO. As a 7th grader, Lily's main sport is soccer but I believe she also used to do basketball, and I'll surely be putting on the peer pressure to get her back on the court at some point. She also got a rope climb on her first day, albeit with the legs to assist.
From my point of view, these two are no-brainers, and there is potential for Mrs. Cavataio and the two youngest daughters to join our crew in the future. But until then, we're glad to have father and daughter. Welcome to the Champions Club kids!
