In the Spotlight: Rd. 2

Well, after seven hours of waiting and delays, Region 24 has concluded and a total of 10 Bishop Foley track athletes will be making the trip to Comstock Park for the State Championship meet. As usual, the Champions Club kids put on a show.
The girls 4x800 relay team finished 2nd for the second year in a row with a time of 11:27. The team consisted of Nicole Murley, Abby Lama, Jackie Beniewicz, and Marian Catalan.
Following suit, the girls 4x100 relay team consisting of Arrielle Hall, Alyssa Brozek, Mackenzie Horwath, and Emma Wonsil ran a 52.0, which was also good for 2nd place.
In the long jump, Arrielle finished 2nd and jumped a seasonal best of 15'1. She will be jumping at states for the second time in three years.
On the boys side of things, Craigen Oster ran a solid 2:09 in the open 800m and held off a Lutheran North runner to grab a 2nd place finish.
In the mile, Craigen was on top of his game. He took the lead with 450 meters left and never looked back. He finished in 4:53, and earned the title of Regional Champ.
Shifting back to the girls, Emma easily had her best meet of the year. She anchored the 4x100 relay team and shortly after defended her crown as Regional champ in the open 400m dash - running an impressive 1:01.9.
The final event of the meet was the 4x400m relay, and it proved to be epic. The team of Marian, Sydni Golfin, Mackenzie, and Emma lead nearly the entire race and edged out Lutheran North for a first place finish in 4:20. Mackenzie ran a 1:06 split - her best of the season. Sydni fought off her nagging back injury and still ran a personal best split of 1:08. But the star of the race, and the night was Marian Catalan.
Marian was in beast mode the entire meet. She ran a solid anchor leg of the 4x8 and then had a long rest for the open 800. In that race, Marian dominated from the start. She jumped out to the lead right from the start, and nobody in the field had an answer. She won the race with a personal be(a)st time of 2:30. To finish the night off, she ran a 1:01 split in the 4x400m relay and set her team up in a great position to win.
In conclusion:
2nd place - Girls Long Jump
2nd place - Girls 4x800 Relay
2nd place - Boys 800m

1st place - Boys 1600m
