Quote of the Week vol. 17: Famous Jameis

"Trust in the process"

- Jameis Winston. Heisman trophy speech on December 14, 2013

As the country's No. 1 High School recruit in 2011, Alamaba native Jameis Winston passed up many in-state colleges and chose to go to Florida State where he would have to compete to win a starting job. He sat out his first year with a red-shirt but lived up to the hype this year, won the Heisman Trophy, and will be playing for a National Championship on January 6th (which will be his 20th birthday).

Although maybe not the most elegant of speeches, Jameis Winston delivered a heartfelt thank-you to himself, his coaches, and his family. "Trust in the process" really hit home with me as something that I often keep in mind with the gym. I trusted in the process that CrossFit will build a strong community that refuses be separated. I trusted in the process that the City of Madison Heights actually wants small businesses to succeed (even though $13,000 handicap-regulation bathrooms made it hard to believe at times). I trusted in the process that allowing teenage coaches to have free reigns to make mistakes now will result in them being the best in the business down the line. And I am currently trusting in the process of striving for excellence with everything in the gym - and one day, it will result us reaching our goal.

Now it is your turn. Trust in the process of our training. We are not coaching you to be your best tomorrow. Or the next day. Or next week. Instead, we are coaching you to do things the right way - which, we believe, will result in your long-term success. It may take longer for Aaron Augustyn to learn than David Saporito, or longer for EP to learn than Shannon. Either way, the coaches (including the teenage ones) are committed to whatever time frame it takes to get it right. We have never seen this stuff not work as long as the athletes matched the coach's committment. As Carl Paoli said, "just because something is harder, doesn't mean it's not better." It can definitely get frustrating and discouraging at times, and that's expected. But mature athletes (reminder: we are all athletes) see beyond tomorrow. Or the next day. Or next week. So be patient and see the big picture. Trust in the process and it will always pay off.

This post is so cool, and its the truth. Like i don't think about how I'm going to preform around now, I dream about how I'm going to be a few years form now.

I really agree with that quote. Sometimes I don't get at first but I known someday I will get it done and that I just got to trust and it will all walk out!:)

I re watched this video and what I really got from it was that everything will turn out ok if you just have complete and utter trust in the powers that be. Truth will prevail...Trust in the process.
