Champions Club Summer '14 Final Attendance + Athlete of the Summer

This was a close call. Ever since the Banets went on their family trip in late July, we knew the Athlete of the Summer would come down between Jason Withorn and Lauren Higgins. Does Jason count as a coach or not? Did Lauren do enough to overcome two whole days away from the gym? Our premise was if Jason performs well enough, then we would keep his eligibility for the Athlete of the Summer running. And I think everyone can agree that he did that and more.

Yes he did a 207.5 lb. 1 RM Overhead squat. Yes he did a 215 lb. 1 RM Split jerk. Yes he did Helen in 7:53 as rx'd. Yes he did Filthy Fifty in 18:51 as rx'd. And yes, he's 16 years old. When it comes to CrosFit stuff, Jason does not have a true weakness. And he left no doubt in our minds that he deserved this Award and his name in the rafters.

For awhile, it was looking like Lauren and some of the Banets were going to give Jason a run for his money for Athlete of the Summer. Here's the Champions Club top-10 Dream team selection:

1. Jason Withorn

2. Lauren Higgins

3. Elizabeth Banet

4. Jennifer Banet

5. Erika Banet

6. Chris Binno

7. Nicole Murley

8. Emma Wonsil

9. Jacqueline Banet

10. Ricky Carey

Not enough can be said about the Summer that Lauren Higgins put in. If Jason had missed another day, she might have the award. Might. Elizabeth kinda did what we expected, but Jennifer and Erika Banet really surprised many of us this Summer; Erika proving she can hang with her older sisters (and beat Shannon), and Jennifer looking more impressive than any of her sisters in their first Summer. Last (and definitely least), Chris Binno was probably the MVP for the Summer 2014. We much needed a male presence in the gym. And while he was not much of one, he still counts nonetheless. As for the rest of the numbers, here's what they look like.

Compare to Summer 2013, Summer 2012, Summer 2011.

Flying like a bird in that first picture haha.
Nice job dude. We really do have to stop and remember that you're only 16 every once in awhile. Great stuff this summer! You're shaping up to be a really good coach too!

And I love that Sap and Amy are the bottom two hahha.

Jason- you're killing it. Murley's right, I have to stop and remember that you're 16 every once in a while! Keep it up kid, you've got some great stuff ahead of you. Cannot WAIT to see that banner with your name hanging up in the rafters where it belongs.

Chris- how do I have the same possible attendance as everyone else if I went back to school on Tuesday.

Emma made me lol. That's exactly how Chris works.

August 24, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterAly

Don't get me wrong Emma, that's completely true. But it just so happened that the day you left was the last day we counted attendance

August 24, 2014 | Registered CommenterChris Sinagoga

Weird cause I checked it the last day. Just lucky I guess
