Lost Movement Vocabulary

A few weeks ago Brand X sent out a message based on observations they've seen over the past few years. Mikki Martin, co-founder, talks about how they've been caught off-guard by assuming kids that come to them already have basic skills developed like running, jumping, throwing, and climbing.

In teaching this is called having a "content blindspot", and is something I think almost everyone goes through. It's really easy to forget that not everyone has the basic skills down yet when you've been focusing/practicing higher level concepts for the latter part of your undergrad/masters.

Just like everything, it comes back to Shrek (onions analogy).

This is probably true, but sadly, I'm afraid many coaches also lack this "vernacular".
