Athlete of the Week: Evan

Three weeks of Summer 2022 in the books, and our Athlete of the Week this time around goes to Evan Pugh.

This was mostly a wheelhouse week for Evan - from tug-of-war stuff on Monday to overhead pressing on Tuesday to the burpees and thrusters and Thursday, and even the running yesterday and team workout today weren't too far out of his comfort zone. And let's be clear, his workout performances were on point. But the thing I've really been noticing about Evan - this week in particular - is how much he's losing fat and gaining muscle definition. I asked him to log his food for a week and bring it in; he did and has made some adjustments to a few things. It's showing, not only in his figure, but in things like pull-ups and running in warmups and his body control during workouts.

Evan's presence in the gym is something that I didn't really appreciate until last Summer when he wasn't here; because he's so quiet he's the person I'll most likely forget when trying to remember who was at a session, but over time his effect on our community is as impactful as any of our talkers. When he walks into the gym, you are immediately not the strongest or toughest person that session. And with the momentum he has going right now, by Summer's end you might not be the fittest either. He was the number 1 overall pick in the draft for a reason (other than he threatened Bubs bodily harm if she didn't pick him). Keep up the good work my man!

YAY! Evan is one of my favorites in the gym for so many reasons. Lately I've enjoyed the fact that he's always up for a Sunday afternoon walk while Mallory is doing her Double A session. He never loses patience when Mel has to stop at every tree and post to leave a mark (Mel, my dog. Not Mel, Chris' imaginary friend who posts his imaginary workouts on the site every day). Way to go, Evan! Can't wait to see what the rest of the Summer brings you - all of this hard work in addition to moving into a new house. Congrats on so many levels!

Thank you everyone!

Also, I would never threaten anyone at the Champions Club with bodily harm, much less our bubbly leader of the Grunchberries.
