Athlete of the Week: Jaxson

For the first time this Summer an Athlete of the Week comes from the 9 am session. Jaxson Riddle gets the nod this time around.

The 9 am session is definitely... strange. To say there is a sense of urgency there is like saying I have calves on my lower leg; sure, in a technical sense that's correct but there is a lot left to be desired. We don't get started until around 9:15, sometimes 9:20, Perk, Adam, and Mici see to it that transitions from exercise to exercise are done at their comfortable pace, and Langston and Alex Schulz can hold up a run with the best of them. Up until recently, Jaxson could be substituted for any one of the names above. But something seems to have clicked for the youngster and he's been leading the pack on runs, burpees, dumbbell snatches, barbell snatches, and split jerks.

The thing I look for the most in the progression of a New Kid transitioning into a seasoned Champions Club kid is their ability to flip the Play Time switch off when the workout is about to begin. This is what I have noticed from Jaxson more than anything else; when it's time to get busy, he puts the Z ball down, stops the jokes, and locks in. He's done with baseball now and isn't playing football in the fall, so hopefully that means he'll keep his late momentum going and finish the Summer strong. Way to work kiddo!
