...........

What were you doing in the summmer coming out of your 7th grade year? Were you on rollerblades? Jumping off curbs on your bike? Or maybe you were more of the indoors type: Roller Coaster Tycoon? Maybe you were technically outdoors but were really glued to your phone playing Pokemon Go. Either way, when you were done going what you wanted to do, your mom or dad probably made you clean. You know, clean your room, clean the kitchen, clean behind the ears... if someone told you to clean "this bar" you'd probably go to the cupboard and grap a Clorox wipe.

On Wednesday there lie a bar on the floor at the Champions Club that needed cleaning. There were three complications with this: first, the bar in question weighed one hundred and fifty pounds; second, the session was filled with kids who barely qualified as teenagers, or younger; and third, the rust and crusted blood stains do not come off the bars at the Champions Club, so the only cleans allowed are the Olympic lifting kind.

So Michaele Banet walks up to the bar on his top toes, looking up and slightly to the right, lifts the bar to his waist, takes a breath, and then does a hang clean with form that would be fitting of a veteran specialist lifter, not a Rookie 7th grade CrossFit kid.

Thing is, Michael is not a Rookie, Michael joined the Babies session with three weeks left of Summer 2019, graduated to the Double-A session in fall 2020, and has been on the fringes since. He's done cleans three times before this Summer, and only twice (I think) this Summer. The skill-transfer effect of movements plus the Banet gene has done wonders, and it does not stop with the lifts; Michael is also the fastest kid in his group and did 18 kipping pull-ups in a row. Fellas, our Banet invasion is still going!

Keep up the great Michael!
