Again guys, I'm a little late on this one, but Saturday marked the one-year anniversary of Nate Archambeau graduating Fundamentals and officially joining the Champions Club!
If anyone remembers me from my Old Weight Room/Fieldhouse Days, you'll know I've come a long way in terms of having a filter. Still, every now and then I slip up and just say the first thing that pops into my mind. When Mama V brought her longtime neighbor in to an 8:30 am session, the first thing I said was not, "hi" or "what's up man," but instead I blurted out, "dang your hair is weird!" About twelve hours later Nate Dogg signed up for Fundamentals, and that's how I knew he would be okay here. And for that, we thank you.
Nate's got that wirey strength to him that has proven very beneficial for his first year in CrossFit. Pull-ups, cleans, deadlifts, handstand push-ups, and dips all come much easier to someone who is much stronger than they look. As a result, he was very quick to progress on all of those movements and we were able to add the intensity dose very early on. By the time Summer rolled around, Nate was in full swing and even made our Summer 2016 Dream Team. As with Dawson and Fry, we also noticed early on that Nate fit in to the community very well. He even got the opportunity to showcase another area of passion, photography.
Since the Summer months have ended, Nate's attendance has not been as consistent due to his school and workload, as well as his newfound affinity towards climbing. But in the end, our goal is to use CrossFit so people can be good at things outside of the gym. And from the sounds of it (and personal experience), Nate has been killing it on the rocks.
Hopefully we will get Jesse Junkin 2.0 back on the consistent streak soon. Until then, congrats on your anniversary and we're all glad you decided to make this place your home.
