One-Year Anniversary: Sam and Sarah Curtis

Chris always says that we have a very strong group of 8th graders. And he is right. He holds us to a high standard to make us better.
When Sam Curtis walked in a year ago I knew she would fit right in with the rest of the monkey exhibit. She was there to get better and stronger, but also bully a little. Perfect for the monkey exhibit.
Not too long ago we started playing a game called “The Wall.” The goal of the game was to usually put a rookie on the far wall by the turf and kick a soccer ball at them or for the volleyball players hit a volleyball at them. And if they catch it the person who hit or kicked the ball is on the wall. I think Sam was on the wall a total of 5 times throughout the summer. This is probably the best game ever for Sam Curtis (aka The Bully). The best game of the wall for Sam was the time she almost hit Chris right in the gut. I can’t say the words that came out of Chris’s mouth after that but it was it was pretty funny.
Besides Sam being a great athlete she is an even more amazing friend. Me and Sam compete with each other in a lot of workouts, but more than anything, we do it to make each other better. I know I can count on Sam no matter what.
Sam congratulations for celebrating one year here at the Champions Club.

First, can I just say that I am so honored that Chris has given me the privilege of writing my own post! The power I hold right now is unbelievable! Although I haven’t gotten a post about me in a while ( Hint, hint Chris) I will not be writing about me today.
Sarah Curtis has officially been a part of the Champions Club for a year! Sarah and I didn’t become friends until a couple weeks into her joining. For the first couple of weeks I thought her name was Sam and Sam’s name was Sarah. I finally learned Sarah’s name when Conamora came over and asked me if I thought Sarah was a threat. A threat to outrunning me on the 800? I think we all know the answer to that.
Conamora investigated Sarah a little deeper and discovered that she plays volleyball. When she came in a couple days later, I invited her to play volleyball with me on the turf. We started talking and I realized that I had nothing to worry about. We had a lot in common. We both talked about our opinions on Chris and how we both hate running. Right then I knew Chris found a good one.
Sarah and I even got the chance to play against each other in volleyball. This is when we discovered Sarah’s incredible jumping ability. I was watching her warm up and out of nowhere Sarah was flying. Actually, she wasn’t flying. She was floating. Sarah is a talented volleyball player and she even made her high school varsity team this year! I can’t wait to see what else Sarah will accomplish in the years to come.
Being a part of the Champions Club, I have not only gotten stronger but I have created friendships that will last a lifetime. Sarah is one of those friends. She is not only sweet and kind but she is competitive and driven. Her hard work and her drive is reflected in the results that we see. She started off deadlifting 75 pounds and now she’s up to 175 pounds. Happy one year Sarah! I am so glad I have you as a friend!
