Beast Mode: Sam

Let me throw two weightlifting numbers out there for you:

265 lbs.

85 lbs.

Normally you'd look at 265 and immediately be more impressed, but you also know this is probably one of those questions/scenarios presented in a way that would make you believe the answer isn't the one you'd think. And yes, that would be the case.

Last Summer a technically-still-7th grade Conamora took the torch from the rest of the Soccer girls - including two AOTS soccer girls and Jessica - on a max effort deadlift day, "topping out" at 265.

Earlier today a technically-still-8th grade Sam Curtis did a 1 rep max snatch at 85 lbs.

The foot position and bodyweight, the midline, the timing of the lift, the knees staying rock-steady, the Lauren Higgins-level battle for balance, 85(!) freaking pounds on the bar; those factors make me wonder whether Sam's lift or Conamora's lift is more uncommon for a girl that age and background. Either way, great work kiddo!
