Over the last four years Shannon Marchant has put an incredible stamp on the Warren Mott track team, despite being an assistant. She's been in charge of the sprinters and - outside of actually running, herself - is about as responsible as one could possibly be for the success on the track. The last two seasons saw Mott win league championships with just about every single point generated from her sprinters. It's about time to take the training wheels off and see how well this thing can scale.
Shannon Marchant is now the head boys and girls Track & Field coach at Seaholm High School.
It has been great to get a court-side view of how Shannon transformed the Mott program to buy into the Pose Method for running. The first two years were rocky but she leaned heavily on the young freshmen and sophomores at the time. That decision paid off the last two years in the form of school records, state qualifiers, and championships. I will be interested to see how the demands of being a head coach will affect the detail she can put into teaching individuals. Knowing her, I'm sure she's figure it out.
Unfortunately for Shannon, she is inheriting a team with Champions Club High-Maintenance Headaches Lira and Adam Bordoley leading the way. Had she considered that going in, I'm sure she would've thought twice about accepting the job. Alas, maybe now Lira will earn a All-State Girl Scout Patch in the next two years. And Adam... sigh... just fix your hips Adam!
Congratulations Shannon! I know we're all excited for you and proud of you. Adam and Lira let's give her a first season to remember!
