Chris Sinagoga - A Character Sketch by Elle Laurencelle

Elle Laurencelle was assigned to do a "character sketch" writing assignment for Mrs. Salgat's 6th grade English class last month. Knowing that she needed a good grade on this, she took the safe bet and chose me to be the subject. Here's what Elle wrote:

Character Sketch                         Chris Sinagoga

I had never thought I would be choosing Chris as my subject for this writing assignment, but here I am typing away. Christopher James Sinagoga is my trainer at Champions Club Crossfit Athletic Group, which I have been doing since the summer of 2013. This is where I first met him and have been buddies ever since. Chris is 6’0 tall, is twenty four years old, and has brown hair and blue eyes. He is a skinny, athletic guy who enjoys helping others improve their physical health and fitness.

Chris was born at Royal Oak Beaumont on November 23, 1990. He lived and still continues to live with his mom, dad, and younger sister Sarah. He grew up in Madison Heights, and went to school at St. Dennis, then proceeded to Bishop Foley for high school, and then went to Marygrove College. Chris didn’t have any prior jobs, and once out of college started his mission to create the best possible Crossfit affiliate. he was majorly influenced by Brian Hassler, the trainer at Bishop Foley to go into the field of physical fitness. Chris finally reached his goal and has been successfully operating and owning Champions Club for the past four years.

Chris comes from a huge Italian and Irish family with a number of cousins, including Jameson, Julia, and Geena. “They are a great family,” he says but also added “I was raised in the wild by a heard of sheep, and I worked my way to the top.” Chris hangs out with his cousins and other family members a lot, and some of them even work out at the gym.

There is quite a lot to explain about Christopher’s personality. He is a hilarious guy with a great sense of humor and is a huge goofball. He likes to enjoy himself and have fun in all the things he does. Chris is also a quiet and polite individual, who is extremely compassionate and dedicated.

Chris is an immense sports enthusiast, but really has a passion for basketball. He started off as a late nineties basketball fan, and has grown into a much bigger fan over the years. Chris has been playing basketball ever since his childhood years; he played in college, and still continues to play. He even coaches an AAU team called The Family. Another thing Chris loves to do is play Pokémon. He has a certified master status in Pokémon Red and Gold. Chris is also a fanatic of the show Swamp People; he loves the show and will never miss an episode. He feels very strongly that RJ and Jay Paul are the kings of the swamp, due to the fact that they were able to catch five hundred alligators in a single season.

Chris has a pretty much normal life, but has had one very strange occurrence with a bottle of Leak Seal. You see, one day there was a leak at the gym, and Chris thought what better way to stop a leak then with Leak Seal. So he went out to Home Depot and bought a bottle of it, then went back to the gym to use it on the leak. When he used the Leak Seal on the leak, it backfired terribly and single handedly set off a chain of events that made out winter two months longer, thirty degrees colder, and increased the crime rate in Detroit. Leak seal is something that Chris feels very strongly about and thinks it attributes to poverty and causes all bad things. To say the least Chris hates Leak Seal and vows to never use it again.

Christopher is a very unique individual, with an exceptional, witty personality. He has a slightly childish character, and actually describes himself as a little kid. Chris has an enjoyable time in all the activities he participates in; this has inspired me to do the same. He has influenced me to want to be a better athlete and take what I do seriously, but to always have the right balance of fun at the same time. Chris has definitely influenced me, and makes me want to strive to do better. Christopher James Sinagoga is an amusing, comical guy, who is compassionate and a great mentor. He has guided me and many others, and I believe that is why he was the perfect person to do for this writing assignment.

Elle! This is really good! I think you should relieve Chris of his duties and take over the website.

Good stuff but no doubt she got the minus because of her crucial error in the opening paragraph. She obviously meant to say that I was buff with muscular calves, but instead she put "skinny." Honest mistake, but a mistake nonetheless. If I was the teacher, I would have knocked her down a whole grade for that.
