Athlete of the Week: Big Poppa

Almost 5 years ago to the week, we handed out an Athlete of the Week award to a Champions Club rookie by the name of Jacob Augustine. He was a lost-in-the-world-type who specialized in being a disproportioned left-handed pitcher and a heart-throb among the ladies (and fellas). It was his first Summer with the Champions Club and was so impressive he was only edged out by Our Guide to the Great Valley for the Athlete of the Summer award.
Fast-forward to now, the last week of June 2017, and he has earned himself the Athlete of the Week nod again.
On Monday, he was part of that overly-crowded 4:30 pm session, and of the 16 people in attendance, his form on wallballs and pull-ups was better than anyone without the last name Banet. On Tuesday, despite a few sincere pleas, he finished the entire 45-minute monstrosity of running with brief deadlifts/sit-up rests. Thursday was, in my opinion, his best workout of the week, where he was patient enough to keep the front squat weight light (yes, hard to believe 185-lbs. is considered light for some people) and emphasize form and tempo. While most did 5-second squats, he did 7 seconds, and his form was spot-on. And finally yesterday he let his gymnastics strength show off by having good position on his L-pull-ups.
More than this, Jacob has been instrumental behind the scenes since April, really, in recruiting some old faces to come back around. He's about as good for this community as one can hope for, and I would not be surprised to see him sneak his way onto the Summer 2017 Dream Team.
Great job Jacob! As a bonus, play a Guess Who for comments section from his original 2012 AOTW post.
