If I was randomly given this picture...

...and was told to pick the the best soccer players in it I'd probably go with #10 first because, obviously. Then probably the blue behemoth who showed up to the wrong field for his Rugby game. Then there's that dude in the stands with the umbrella to the right. I wouldn't pick him, which would be a good call, I think, because he has an umbrella, but the dude to his left is looking at this play like he knows the rules and what's going on, so he'd be a safe pick. And then there's the older dude poking his head above Blue Rugby Behemoth: he looks like he used to do his soccer thing back in the day. My last pick (other than umbrella dude) would be the little kid in white about to kick the ball.

It turns out LKIWATKTB is Javier Steinwascher in high school, and somehow that little squirt grew up to be the quadzilla we know today. Late bloomers, dude. They're legit.

Probably could play rugby too

On March 25 of last year, Javier and Alex came out to Troy High's track to join Cecilia in her first lockdown workout (fun fact, we saw Derrick Rose out there, and none of the three had heard of him). To see the consistency Javier has put in since then - workout, mobility, and nutrition - and the transformation his body has undergone has been really fun to watch, as has his community impact on the gym.

As many of you know, Javier's been trying out for a few local pro teams since the winter, not quite getting the look he wanted. But his perserverance is starting to pay off. On Thursday Detroit City FC made him an official offer after seeing him ball out in a game against an Indiana team, and yesterday he signed. It's his first of what will hopefully be many pro contracts!

The fans are all over him for autographs now

Not only is this a great step in his career, but also a bonus for the Champions Club: DCFC plays their home games in Hamtramck, so once they allow fans in we'll be sure to catch a few games.

Congratulations Javier! Keep working my man!
