Coach's Corner: Split Jerk Timing w/ Jay

Here's a drill we did at the 6:30 session tonight that helped Jay quite a bit on the split jerks.

Sometimes taking away a part of a movement is a really effective way to get the result we want - a practice Carl Paoli refers to as "blocking movement." Pushing with the hands in the split jerk is one of the most common mistakes we say today, but even more than that was not not letting the full "unweight" or jump happen before falling. The setup of this drill forces us to not only use the legs before the arms, but use the full capacity of the legs, otherwise the bar won't get high enough to reach our hands.
