Poll: Prep to Pro

Last week the Bucks made headlines for drafting Thon Maker. The 7 footer isn't super distinguishable from the other NBA hopefuls other than the fact that he's technically a 19 year-old high schooler. Several players have made the jump to the NBA after high school, most notably Kevin Garnett, Kobe Bryant, and LeBron James. However, in 2006 drafting high school players has been prohibited by the new collective bargaining agreement, which requires that players who entered the draft be 19 years of age and at least one year removed from high school. Of course there's loopholes, like spending a year abroad or even taking a year off. What do you guys think about prep to pro players? Is there a place for it in the NBA? And what makes it different from other sports, like baseball?
