New Kids on the Block: Ella, Emma, and the Pfannes Family

As Summer 2020 is rolling on, an unplanned Rookie session of sorts appears to be forming; the 11 am crew has been morphing to feature our New Kids on the Block and we just got 4 more in recent weeks.

Ella Goga is a friend/teammate of Lulu and Conamora and joined up earlier this month. She's a soccer player who's using this opportunity to get her fitness and conditioning on par with her soccer game. Early on I wasn't sure this was going to be the right fit for her, but a recent string of workouts and improvements leads me to believe otherwise. Rumor has it she's even been bugging her grandma, mom, and dad to come in on days she isn't normally scheduled. That's definitely a good sign, from my experience. Also, I'm obviously a fan of her last name!

Emma Lang is our latest in our line of Lamphere invasion people. She's an incoming sophomore and came in as a recommendation of Jaylee Hall. Emma plays softball, basketball, and volleyball, with softball being her sport of choice. She is also a big fan of McDonalds, which automatically puts her on my good side!

Next up we have Mrs. Jayme Pfannes , a science teacher in the Utica schools system, who came to us through a recommendation of Cecilia's mom. She's a former high school multi-sport athlete and it shows in the weight room. She has a little bit of strength, a little bit of endurance, a lot of coordination, and just enough trash talking to make her entertaining to coach!

Finally we have Calan Pfannes. He technically belongs to Mrs. Jayme, but so far during the sessions she seems to be trying to shoo him away like an annoying puppy. This 10 year old has a permanent smile tattooed on his face and seems to have no clue whatsoever of where his body is located in space at any given time. Which, from my experience, is pretty normal for someone his age. What is not normal, though, is how much enthusiasm he shows when coming into the gym. That, and attendance, are the two most important things at that age. And despite living out in Bettys/Hesskeville, these two have been very consistent since joining - even having the unfortunate luxury of hitting the Hill two days in a row.

Welcome to the Champions Club kids!
