This morning Josh VanDoorn and Drew Webster finished their 5th and final Fundamentals session with me, doing the now-traditional 200m run/dumbbell clean couplet.
Drew is an impressive athlete who has more coordination than I originally gave him credit for. He picked up on squats, burpees, and box jumps early on, and the Pose running and unweighting got better as the session progressed. He has two major things that will be tough to work through: overextension and shoulder mobility - which leads to a virtually nonexistant grip strength.
Josh nailed his kipping pull-ups and rope climbs and has also seen his hollow holds and push-ups improve over the course of Fundamentals. Feet together on bodyweight stuff and a general stomping while running were his biggest problem areas.
With all that being said, both kids are going to be really good fits here. They are coachable and patient and willing to work hard. Welcome to the Champions Club kids!
