Shark Week Theme Workout Recap

Let me start by saying that this is the most populated Summer Theme Workout we've ever had at the Champions Club. 41 people showed up in total, about 30 of which had absolutely no idea what they were getting themselves into. Poor little Loretta, for one, is in a current state that could turn us into one of those infomercials about work places with abusive child labor.

... Calan suffered some intestinal damage and internal bleeding after landing flat on the med ball in the first round. He's probably also concussed, though the Monkey Exhibit didn't seem to show much empathy for him.

Both him and Loretta, miraculously, managed to find the toughness to finish the workout. I also might find myself explaining to the L'Anse Creuse North coaches why their current and future soccer stars have bruises on their forearms and knees (video below).

As I wrote about before the Summer, we are in a transition as a community, and one of the realities I need to account for is to never assume an off-weekend for attendance. We set a Theme workout record without Sharp, the Careys, Jay, the Bettys family, Nevarez, Conamora, Jaylee(!), the Kuiper family, Aaron, Malak, and almost the entire rookie session. Oddly enough, we accounted for the extra equipment, as we had more than enough med balls and dumbbells (and probably would've had enough kettlebells if needed). We are going to have to rethink the Sharking course, or maybe have separate Minnow Pond and Open Ocean courses.

As for the winners, Cecilia and Jessica once again showed their dominance with a total score of 560. The team of Owen and Anto wrote down 18 total shark attacks on the board, Nick Bewick also claimed 7 victims, himself.

Thank you guys again for another great Theme Workout! Be ready for another one coming up next weekend. If we're lucky, Jaylee might be found in time to rejoin us.
