Bye Bye Woorden

A little behind on this one, but Saturday was the last day for the Champions Club's only child Danielle Worden before heading off to Adrian College for her freshman year.
As one of only three two-time seasonal award winners, Woorden's personality and accomplishments have been documented over and over on this here site. But this Summer she has been a different Danielle; a casual, checked-out, easy-going, and generally pleasant-to-be-around Danielle. I know, right.
Tomorrow is, coincidentally, her two-year anniversary and over the course of the past 700-something days we have seen Woorden be the lone ranger carrying the high school torch for the Champions Club. She never reached the Banet-level on CrossFit ability, but she absolutely stood out on the powerlifting platform, earning two trips to states and a 3rd place finish back in the spring. But I also need to make sure I don't let her Woorden-ness take away from her CrossFit ability; she can do pull-ups, handstand push-ups, lift heavy, and run as well as just about any high school girl (or boy, for that matter). And Woorden's community impact could not be overstated - whether that's becoming the daughter Mrs. Carey never had, or keeping Erica and Lindsey from giving their best effort to spite me, or taking Sammy Butcher under her wing. Danielle's also been the connecting fiber that has led to our recent Utica Ford invasion, starting with Cecilia and leading to this influx of rookies.
The Champions Club is in a much better place now than it was on August 21, 2017 when Danielle came in for Day 1:
It was pretty clear from the start she would be one of those kids who we would cling to like Mama V to the girls' bathroom, and Woorden did not disappoint.
Thank you for calling this place your home, Danielle, and we can't wait to see you back for the holidays!
Chris
