Coach's Corner: Dead Time

In yesterday's benchmark workout Elizabeth, a lot of you were asked to eliminate every second of rest possible. Obviously this is not going to happen in a workout with more than one exercise, but the idea is to be aware of any time spent not doing anything, then when you recognize it, start doing something.
At the 5:30 session we had Mr. Bennis, Lira, Decker, and Adam. It was the kids' first time doing the workout and Mr. Bennis's first time with burpees as a sub. Their final times were as follows:
Decker 5:15 (65)
Lira 5:12 (55)
Adam 5:28 (45)
Mr. Bennis 9:01 (95)
Now watch the video and see if you can find 16 seconds for Decker, 13 seconds for Lira, 29 seconds for Adam, and 2 seconds for Mr. Bennis of deadl time that could have been elinimiated in order to get their final time under that minute landmark.
You'll also notice that the form on all of them is more sloppy than usual. For this workout I was okay with that because the weight was light and I wanted them to try and find their highest tolerance for discomfort. Sometimes we need to learn how to get greedy in a workout. 5:12/5:15 is a good time for this. 4:59 is an even better time. I know the physical capacity was there, just gotta get the mental capacity to catch up. In fact, we have some visuals from one of our Elizabeth sessions in 2015.
