Mobility in Action

The best mobility drills anyone can do aren't stretches or mashing with a ball, but rather the actual movements. The movements put in a workout are usually included to elicit some kind of muscle fatigue or heavy breathign response. But a major side effect of doing them correctly is using a range of motion that we don't generally spend a lot of time in.

On Thursday's overhead squat max effort, our 5:30 session featured 6 people who really showed a lot of improvement in their bottom position as the session went on: Mr. Malak, Mr. Krstich, Mr. Kuiper, Coach Casey, Bewick, and Mrs. Burton. We didn't go very heavy for any of them but they all did a really good job of using the session to make some progress on their mobility.

Just remember that every movement you do can also serve as a very effective mobility drill if you treat it that way. It just takes some attention to detail and willingness to go out of your comfort zone a bit.
