Senior Tribute 2015

by, Ricky Carey

The end of the school year is basically here which means it is time for graduations and goodbyes. We will be forced to say goodbye to two important people to this gym who will be graduating and leaving us to begin a life on their own. SInce it is time to say goodbye to our seniors, it is also time for our senior tribute post. Last year Katie Bromm was asked to write it for the 8 graduating seniors and this year i have been given the task to write it for ALL 2 of the seniors. So here we go…

Summer 2012

Katie Bromm: This shy and strange ginger came into our gym during the summer of 2012. Throughout the years here she has morphed into talkative beast. She has done so much for her school and for this box. Katie won athlete of the summer in 2013, she is salutatorian, and has made it to states for track multiple times. She was able to do all these things while playing a sport every season, sometimes two, and being a part of student council and many other organizations. Katie has a special ability to make anyone laugh, although most of the time it is at her… But when the timer starts for a workout no one will be laughing at her as she turns into a beast and destroys the workout. Katie will be attending U of M in the fall to study pharmacy and while we all give you crap at gym (mainly me) you will be dearly missed.

Summer 2011

Joe Wonsil: Joe started crossfit before we considered it crossfit. While his attendance at the box has been spotty sometimes we always know when he is here, he will work his hardest. When most of us think of Joe we think of a rower who has made it to states twice and is ranked nationally, but he is also an eagle scout, V.P. of National Honor Society, a member of the Knights of Columbus squires, and so much more. Joe is able to row, be part of all these groups, and do crossfit all while excelling at school. His time at crossfit has benefitted him in his rowing and his two week hikes for eagle scouts. Joe has benefitted all of us at the box by pushing everyone to go harder during workouts or by using his sense of humor, which is surprisingly similar to Mr. Wonsil’s, to make us all laugh. I only got to know you better throughout the recent months but I and everyone else wish you the best at college it will be sad to see you go.

These two seniors have given so much to the box and it will be impossible to replace them. Both Katie and Joe have gained so much from highschool and crossfit here, but now it is time for them to use what they have learned and apply it to the real world. I know you both will kill it at college and give the champions club a good name. Whenever you guys come back from school you better come visit ready to talk AND workout. Good Luck!
