Champions Club Summer 2014 Official Signup

After procrastinating as much as I possibly can, I have come to realize that it is already May, and we need to get things in order for what is shaping out to be another great season for The Champions Club. So without further ado, I present:

Champions Club Summer 2014 Official Sign Up

Couple minor changes this year, but otherwise it’s going to be almost the same as before. The Champions Club Summer 2014 will go from June 9 – August 31. Gym location is 32301 Stephenson Hwy in Madison Heights (look for the sign that says “CrossFit Athletic Group” and a big blue garage door that will hopefully be open). The price for this summer will be $225 per athlete. Now on to the sessions.

If you are not familiar, Summer attendance at sessions is not quite as flexible as it is during the school year and involves signing up for a time slot. We roll with an 80/20 rule: 80 percent of the time you attend the session you signed up for, and you can roam around the other 20 percent as long as you give one of the coaches a heads up. I understand this may be slightly inconvenient at times and it may mean you have to wait a half hour longer or (God forbid) wake up earlier to workout. But with the increase of numbers and the variety of skill level we see in the Summer, this has proved to work the best. The sessions are also grouped and sorted by skill (and sometimes social) level of the people attending. Here is what the session layout looks like this time around:

9:00 am

10:00 am (New exposure)*

11:00 am (“Kiddies” group: grade school – middle school)

11:45 am (Invite only)**

1:30 pm***

5:00 pm***

6:00 pm (Mom’s and Dad’s Club)

7:00 pm

*All new exposure/limited experience kids will be at the 10 am session. If in question, ask me.

**11:45 session is open to: Nicole Murley, Emma Wonsil, Ryan Richard, Chris Binno, and Bubs. In addition to these kids, Amy PotterSydni Golfin, AJ Morey, Meghan Murley, and Abby Lama can join this group as well assuming they come back at the end of the spring and show they haven’t forgot everything in their absence.

***1:30 pm and 5:00 pm sessions will probably be inhabited by a lot of last year’s 10 am and 1:30 pm session Freaks. If you're not a fan of good form or strict movement standards, this may not be the session for you.

****The session times for Wednesdays and the weekend will be different, and will be open to everyone. We will also have a Seniors group and Preschool "Babies" group and times for them will be determined once we settle that.

Note, you can sign up for any session you want (except for 11:45). Just understand that the sessions will be catered to the audience listed above. 9 am and 7 pm are more open and flexible. So when you email me back to confirm your spot, I need to know which session you will be attending (and sibling/kid if necessary), your phone number, and your parent's email address if you are in high school or younger. Again, the price will be $225 per athlete. The preschool and senior price will be less and settled once we get there. Checks need to be made out to Champions Club, Inc. Cash is also cool. Please respond as soon as possible. Spots will fill up, and I try to cap the sessions at 11 people. Commitments must be either done by email (preferably) or text message.

Also, here are a few standards to follow.

  1. Accept yourself as a student.
  2. Accept the coaches as your teachers. All of them; myself, Murley, Emma, and Jason.
  3. Don’t be selfish. In a closely packed community like ours, everyone has a ripple effect on the people around them. When you are at the session you signed up for, it makes everyone around you better. When you are not, it takes away from their experience.
  4. If a coach is talking, you are not. Coming in early before a session or staying after is completely cool and encouraged. In fact, some of the kids stay almost all day. Just keep the noise level reasonable so the next session can concentrate. Or better yet, go outside!
  5. No gossip. If it’s in question, it’s gossip.
  6. Keep conversation levels acceptable the youngest person in the room. Be casual but have something resembling a filter if needed.
  7. The food at the gym (laying out, in a cabinet, or stored in the fridge) is for the coaches who spend the entire day there. If you are planning on an extended stay, please bring your own stuff.
  8. No phones during a session.

Lastly, we have the best affiliate website/blog in all of CrossFit. championsclub.squarespece.com. It is updated about 3 times per day with highlights from the workouts, new accomplishments, important announcements, training theory/coaching points, and award-winning editorials from our highly advanced team of writing robots. We put a lot of time into our site and we believe it is one of the best resources for learning and entertainment you will find. So make sure to keep up with it every day and for the sake of my sanity please drop a comment to let us know you’re out there.

So there you have it. My phone number is 248-275-8939 and my email is c.sinagoga11@yahoo.com. Get back to me as soon as possible, spread the word, and start the countdown to June 9.

Chris
