Disney Doozy 2024 Recap

Close your eyes and picture the Champions Club Theme Workout Ven Diagram in your head...

Can you see it?

No? You mean you haven't memorized it and locked it away to be recalled for all those times Champions Club Theme Workouts comes up in your regular daily lives?

Seriously, how did you manage to trick 120+ people into joining your business?

Dean! Now is not the time! Go scare Amy Potter until we call you back this way in August.

Fine, fine.

Anyway, no, you don't remember it? I wrote it in the Chutes and Ladders recap last Summer. You will be tested on it later. The elements of Creativity, Simplicity, and Competition are what I tinker around with when bringing in new Themes (Cops & Robbers or Politics for this Summer) or redesigning an old one (Olympics is coming back). When talking about the Original 4, things are a little different: I view them on a sliding scale with Tradition on one end and Renovate on the other. I actually spent the last 5 minutes putting that on ChatGPT and, not gonna lie, that site it nuts! But a paranoid part of my mind tells me not to embed something that "smart" on a site with your pictures and videos and information. So we'll use MS Paint instead.

I really place a lot of value on Tradition because I know how difficult it is for something to be around long enough to develop one, and on the other hand I'm also a Michigan fan, and I know what it's like to blow your bugle hollering "LEADERS AND THE BEST" when 11/12 of your National Championships happened before World War II; sometimes renovations are needed to keep up with best practices.

The Disney Doozy Theme Workout took a hiatus in the Fieldhouse during Summer 2011 for some reason; other than that it's been a constant for the Champions Club for as long as we've been around. It it not creative in the slightest. I mean, yeah we play Disney music and we named the stations, but it's obvious Brian and I were new to the possibilities of what "Theme" could actually mean. Plus movements like partner deadlifts, hand-release push-ups, and legless rope climbs have somewhat of an injury history as well - especially in the setting where we have /checks the whiteboard 43(!) people in attendance and minimal coaching. There is definitely part of me that believes the Disney Workout needs a renovation (as well as the other ones).

However, when I happen to catch a picture like this...

... I am forced to reconsider. The Disney Doozy (and the rest of the Original 4) needs to stay consistent enough to be able to share similar stories through the ages and generations that come through here. I plan on being around long enough for Aaron Sexton's son to join in and hear stories about his pops dancing to Hawaiian Rollercoaster Ride; I plan on being around long enough for the day when Mr. Gjon chooses between his daughter and granddaughter for partner deadlifts (assuming he hadn't murdered his son-in-law before then). Whether this is wishful thinking or forward thinking will show itself in time.

Thank you guys again for not just a great stand-alone workout, but also for helping solidify the foundation of the Champions Club family for years to come.

Final workout results can be seen here. Be on the lookout for another Original 4 Theme to come this way soon...

Hey, what about...

Didn't I tell you to go away?!

No, no. What about the rest of the pictures?

You'll have to wait until the end of Summer.

You gotta be kidding me. And let me guess, no video highlights either?

Nope!

And what's your rationale for that?

Either use your memory or use your imagination.

You've lost it my dude.

The bare necessities of life will come to you.
